Purpose: The Missing Piece in a World Searching for Meaning

One of the greatest crises facing our culture today is not simply mental health, addiction, loneliness, or division.
It is a crisis of purpose.
When people lose purpose, they often lose hope.
When they lose hope, they begin to question their value.
And when they question their value, they begin to lose their identity.
Many people wake up every day asking themselves:
"Why am I here?"
"Do I matter?"
"Does my life make a difference?"
These are not simply emotional questions. They are identity questions.
We were created for more than survival.
We were created to contribute.
We were created to serve.
We were created to use our gifts in ways that benefit others.
Our culture often teaches people to pursue happiness, comfort, status, or self-gratification. Yet many people who achieve those things still find themselves feeling empty.
Why?
Because purpose is not found in being served.
Purpose is found in serving.
The most fulfilled people I have met are not the people who constantly ask, "What can I get?"
They are the people who ask, "How can I help?"
Purpose gives meaning to pain.
Purpose gives direction during uncertainty.
Purpose gives people a reason to keep moving forward when life becomes difficult.
So how do you know when you are walking in your purpose?
You begin to experience fulfillment that goes beyond temporary happiness.
You recognize that your gifts, experiences, and even your struggles can be used to help others.
You stop asking, "What do I want from life?"
And begin asking, "What can I contribute to life?"
Purpose is often discovered at the intersection of three things:
What you care about.
What you are gifted at.
What helps other people.
When those three things come together, people often discover a deeper sense of meaning and direction.
As a community, we also have a responsibility to help others discover purpose.
We do this by encouraging them.
Listening to them.
Recognizing their strengths.
Creating opportunities for them to contribute.
Helping them identify the gifts, talents, and experiences that make them unique.
Many people already possess the gifts needed to make a difference. They simply need someone to help them see what is already there.
Purpose is not reserved for a select few.
Everyone has something to contribute.
Everyone has value.
Everyone has gifts.
Everyone has a role to play.
When people discover that truth, hope begins to return.
And where there is hope, identity begins to grow.
Purpose is not just about what you do.
It is about understanding who you are and how your life can make a difference in the lives of others.
